The Cernauti ghetto was formed on October 11, 1941 at the order of Corneliu Calotescu, the governor of Bukovina, Romania. Between October 12, 1941 and June 1942, over 30,000 Jews were deported from Cernauti to Transnistria. The ghetto was liberated by Soviet forces in early 1944. (en-US)
