Definizione

Malchow was a subsidiary camp of Ravensbrück for female and male prisoners. It opened in 1943 and was located in the German state of Mecklenburg in the district of Waren. The prisoners were forced to work in the construction of the camp and for the Sprengstoffchemie Werke manufacturing ammunitions. The Malchow camp also served to accept the overflow from other Ravensbrück commandos. Some of the prisoners were taken to Sweden on April 26, 1945, by the Swedish Red Cross. According to an official report two groups were evacuated on May 1, 1945, to Neustadt-Glewe and to Lübz. The camp was liberated on May 1 or 2, 1945. (en-US)
