Definizione

A subcamp of Ohrdruf which belonged to the Buchenwald complex existed at the site of a former Hitlerjugend tent camp. Also known as "Espenfeld", it housed about 7,000 prisoners. The prisoners were evacuated to Buchenwald at the end of March 1945. The employer SS-WVHA/Amtsgruppe C (Bauwesen) compelled prisoners to work in a stone quarry and in the construction of tunnels.
