Definizione

The concentration camp Natzweiler-Struthof was opened on May 1, 1941 in the Bas-Rhin department. The inmates of this camp were compelled to do construction and engineering work for a variety of firms in Alsace-Lorraine. Nazweiler-Struthof was the site of pseudoscientific medical experiments on prisoners involving poison gas and typhus. In addition more than 80 prisoners, many of whom were Jewish, were gassed and their corpses were sent to Strasbourg University Institute of Anatomy for study. (en-US)
