Definizione

With the rise of Hitler in Germany and the spread of German rule and occupation, over 50,000 Jews pass through Yugoslavia between 1933 and 1941. When Alexander is assassinated (October 9, 1934), Regent Prince Pavel continues authoritarian rule. Moves toward federalization culminate in the creation of a Croatian Banovina on August 26, 1939. Religious figures for 1939 say Yugoslavia was 0.5% Jewish. (en-US)
