Definizione

Location: Central part of Italy in the area of Tuscany. Capital city: Massa. History: The area of Carrara is famous of the marble obtained from the local quarries. The province is bordered by the Ligurian Sea in the west and by the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Lucca and La Spezia. In 1938, the Fascist government renamed the Massa Carrara province Apuania as a result of an administrative renaming and reorganization project. After the war, the name of the province went back to Massa Carrara. (en-US)
