Definizione

Antonello Tromadori (1917-1993) was an art historian from Rome and resistance leader. Before the war, he joined the Italian Communist Party (Pci). Trombadori was arrested in 1941 for his anti-Fascist activities and placed into enforced residence. In September 1943 Trombadori organized one of the first military partisan groups named "Gli Arditi del Popolo." He participated in the first major event in Italian resistance, the battle against the Germans at Porta San Paolo, by distributing weapons to the local population. He was the leader of Patriotic Action Group (GAP) in Rome. In February 1944, Trombadori was arrested by the Germans in February 1944 and imprisoned in Regina Coeli. After the war he was a member of Parliament, film maker, and art historian, eventually turning way from communism. (en-US)
