Terezin Memorial   Cerca

The Terezin Memorial is a collection of eight museums and sites in several buildings in and near the former Theresienstadt ghetto: the Ghetto Museum, the Jewish Cemetery with the Crematorium, the Small Fortress and the National Cemetery; the Magdeburg Barracks, the Memorial to the Soviet Soldiers, the Pious Place by the Ohre River, the Mortuary of the Theresienstadt ghetto, and the Crematorium of the Litomerice (Leitmeritz) concentration camp. The Ghetto Museum opened in October 1991. In 1993 a permanent exhibit opened inside the crematorium of the Jewish cemetery. In May 1994 the former Gestapo prison opened as an additional exhibit. The Ghetto Museum was renovated in November 1994. In 1997 the military barracks in Magdeburg were reconstructed and opened as another part of the museum complex. The Terezin Memorial receives the majority of its funding from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic; the budget is augmented with admission fees. (en-US)
