Definizione

Location: Western Europe, bordered in 1939 by Germany and Belgium. Capital city: Amsterdam is the constitutional capital and The Hague is the administrative and government capital. History: The Netherlands became home to many German Jews during Hitler's rise to power (1933-1940). Dutch Jews worked to assist the refugees. Many Jews remained in the country during German occupation of The Netherlands (May 1940-May 1945). Very few Jews survived the deportations to German camps, which began in 1942. The Netherlands was liberated with Germany's unconditional surrender on May 8, 1945. (en-US)
