Capital city: Potsdam Situated in eastern Germany, Brandenburg was bordered by the Prussian provinces of Pomerania to the northeast, Lower Silesia to the southeast, Saxony to the southwest and west, and Hanover to the northwest. Brandenburg was bordered by the states of Mecklenburg-Schwerin to the northwest, Mecklenburg-Strelitz to the north, and Anhalt to the southwest, and by Poland to the east. The province of Brandenburg consisted of two administrative subunits, Frankfurt and Potsdam. (en-US)
