Nota d'ambito

Used when interviewees discuss being confined in a deportation center during their deportation experience. Additional information: The name of the city should be indexed as well. For example, if the interviewee is sent to a deportation center in Debrecen, the cataloger should index "Debrecen (Hungary)" and "deportation centers." If the interviewee provides the name of the deportation center, choose the appropriate index term from the Authority or propose it if necessary. For example, if an interviewee is moved from the Budapest ghetto to the Óbuda brickyard, "Óbuda (Hungary : Deportation Center)" should be indexed rather than "deportation centers." However, in some cities, a brickyard is considered to be part of the ghetto (e.g. the Mukacevo ghetto), so catalogers should check the thesaurals for the ghetto terms before proposing a new term. The move to a deportation center and an interviewee's experience there are considered to be part of the deportation experience. Therefore, the movement index term ("deportation from city X" or "deportation from ghetto X") must be indexed in each segment in which an interviewee is confined in a deportation center. If interviewees discuss their experiences in a deportation center, index the appropriate locator content terms. For example, if an intervieweee discusses the living conditions in a deportation center, index "deportation conditions." Survivors' experiences in deportation centers are not entered into the PIQ.
