Definizione

Definition: Brussels and Antwerp are liberated by Allied forces early September 1944. The rest of Belgium is freed by November. The Germans recapture parts of southeast Belgium in December 1944. In January 1945, German troops are finally completely driven out of Belgium. When the Allies reach Belgium on September 3, 1944, the Belgian army prevents the destruction of the port of Antwerp. This port serves as the most important provisioning point for Allied troops until the end of the war. Upon Allied occupation, the Germans transfer King Leopold III to Austria and hold him there until 1945. (en-US)
