Definizione

Definition: On the eve of Nazi invasion, Belgian contains 66,000 Jews, only ten percent of who are Belgian citizens. Most live in Brussels, Antwerp, Liége, and Charleroi. Although Yiddish is also used, French becomes the predominant language among the Jews of Belgium. Close ties exist between Jews and the Belgian leftist movement. This later becomes important in rescue efforts and resistance during the Holocaust. (en-US)
