Definition: Romanian province, part of the historic Walachia, known also as Lesser Walachia, situated in the southwest part of Romania; it was bounded by Bulgaria on the south, by Yugoslavia on the southwest, by the province of Banatul on the northwest, by the province of Transylvania on the north, and by the province of Muntenia on the east. Capital: Craiova The province consisted of five counties: Dolj, Gorj, Mehedinti, Romanati, and Valcea. (en-US)
