Definizione

After World War II, Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) remained a self-governing British Colony. In 1953 Southern and Northern Rhodesia were merged with the British colony of Nyasaland to form the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, also called the Central African Federation with the capital in Salisbury (Harare). In 1963 the Federation was dissolved. In October 1964 the nation changed its name to Rhodesia when Northern Rhodesia became independent Zambia. The white minority government became increasingly conservative leading up to the unilateral declaration of independence on November 11, 1965. (en-US)
