The Poznan voivodship was located in northwestern Poland between the wars with the capital in the city of Poznan (Posen) and bordered the Pomorze and Lódz voivodships and Germany. The area had been a part of the Prussian empire and went to Poland after WWI. Germany occupied and annexed Poznan during WWII.
