Cracovia (Polonia : Voivodship) CercaDefinizione
The Craców voivodship was located in southwestern Poland between the wars. The area had been part of the Galicia province of the Austria-Hungary from 1846 to 1918. The Jewish community dated back to the 14th century and the area became a center for Jewish and Yiddish language culture, Zionism, and religion. After WWI, Craców became part of the republic of Poland and the city of Craców was the voivodship capital. During WWII, the German forces occupied the voivodship and incorporated it into the General Government. Approximately 30 percent of the Jews in Craców perished in the Holocaust. After the war, most of the area was included in the Malopolskie voivodship.
