Lwów (Polonia : Voivodship) CercaDefinizione
The Lwów voivodship was located in southeastern Poland between the wars. The area had been part of the province of Galicia in the Austro-Hungarian empire from to 1918. After WWI, Polish and Ukrainian forces fought over the area and it was incorporated into the republic of Poland in 1919. The Jewish community dated back to the 14th century. During WWII, the Soviet forces occupied Lwów until June 1941 when the German forces occupied the Soviet-held territories and incorporated Lwów into the General Government. After the war, the eastern half of the Lwów voivodship and the city of Lwów became an oblast in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, remaned L'viv and the western part was incorporated into the Polish voivodship of Podkarpackie with the capital in Rzeszów.
