Stanislawów (Polonia : Voivodship) CercaDefinizione
The Stanislawów voivodship was located in southeastern Poland between the wars, with the capital city in Stanislawów, and bordering the voivodships of Lwów and Tarnopol, and Czechoslovakia and Romania. The area had been part of the Austrian empire since the late 18th century as eastern Galicia and then disputed between Poland and the West Ukrainian National Republic after WWI. From 1939 to 1941, the Soviet Union annexed the area and renamed it Stanislaviv, and then it was occupied by Germany. After the war, Stanislawów became the Stanislaviv oblast and then the Ivano-Frankivs'k oblast of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and then the independent Ukraine.
