Bialystok (Polonia : Voivodship) CercaDefinizione
The Bialystok voivodship was located in northeastern Poland between the wars. The area had belonged to the Russian empire since 1807 and then to Poland after WWI. The capital city was Bialystok. The city's Jewish community dated back to the 18th century and approximately half of the community perished in the Holocaust. After WWII, much of the area was incorporated into the new voivodship of Podlaskie.
