Used when the interviewee has specified that it is a foster family. If the "foster" relationship is not specified, the index term "foster families" should be preferred in the case of countries not occupied by the Nazis (e.g. families in the United Kingdom accepting German Jewish children from the Kindertransport), but the relationship "aid givers" should be preferred for countries under Nazi occupation during the war (e.g. families in occupied France raising children placed in their care).
