Jawischowitz (Polonia : campo di concentramento) CercaDefinizione
A subsidiary camp of Auschwitz, located in in the village of Jawiszowice on a site which before World War II was in Cracow voivodship. Under the German administation, this area was a part of the German-annexed territory of Upper Silesia, Germany. The camp was opened in August 1942 and evacuated in January 1945. Its inmates were compelled to work at the coal mines as well as in highway and tunnel construction. The employers were Bergwerk der Hermann-Göring Werke Jawischowitz und Brezeszcze, Deutsche Bergwek-und Hüttenbau, Gmbh, Klotz und Co. Kg, Berlin, Firma Fiebig, Firma Lasota, and Firma Riedel. The camp was evacuated to Gross Rosen concentration camp in January 1945. (en-US)
