Definition: On January 11, 1958, Ion Maurer becomes the President of the Grand National Assembly. This is a period of limited disengagement with the Soviet alliance in Europe. According to the registration of 1960, there are 153 Jewish communities. On March 21, 1961, Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej becomes the President of the State Council. From 1964, the chief rabbi officiates as the chairman of the Jewish Federation. Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej dies on March 19, 1965. (en-US)
