Definizione

Berlin forces Bucharest to sign an Oil Pact on May 27, 1940. The Red Army annexes 50,000 sq. kms and nearly 3 million inhabitants of Romania in June-July 1940. On September 5, 1940, King Carol II abdicates and Ion Antonescu comes to power. On September 15, 1940, Romania becomes a state where only the Legionnaire Movement and the German Ethnic Group are allowed political action. The new government is formed by Antonescu on January 27, 1941. Antonescu promises Hitler to take Romania into war against the USSR. (en-US)
