Definizione

Definition: On July 22, the Polish authorities in the so-called Lublin Manifesto promise the Jews full equality of rights as citizens and a national minority. Lodz, the only ghetto still left in Europe, is liquidated in August. The Warsaw Polish uprising takes place from August 1-October 2. The Jewish fighting organization (ZOB) takes part in the uprising. Soviet troops do not support the Warsaw revolt and the Polish Home Army is forced to surrender after two months of fighting. (en-US)
