In the first half of 1942, the extermination camps Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka are established. From January 16-mid-May, numerous transports of Jews are dispatched from the Lodz ghetto to Chelmno. The first deportations from Western Europe to Belzec take place on March 24. Mass deportations to exterminations camps begin with the Warsaw ghetto in July and continue until October 4-6. On October 28, 8 ghettos are established in the Lublin district. By December 1, just 5 ghettos are left. (en-US)
