Definition: Germany occupies Hungary on March 19. On April 5, Jews are ordered to wear a star, put in ghettos and camps, and are deported to extermination camps mainly between May 15 - July 9. Horthy is dismissed on October 16, and brought to Germany on October 17. Ferencz Szálasi becomes prime minister. Soviet troops cross the Hungarian border in August. The Budapest ghetto is established in December. The Provisional multiparty government is established on December 21. (en-US)
