Definizione

Beginning in 1989, hundreds of thousands of Jews from the former Soviet Union immigrated to Israel. The Labor Party returned to power in 1992 and Israel conducted secret peace talks with the Palestinians, resulting in an agreement on self-rule for the Palestinians and phased Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank. On February 6, 2001, Ariel Sharon was elected Prime Minister of Israel. (en-US)
