Definizione

Postwar reconstruction takes place. Hundreds of thousands of Jews return to their home areas in Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltics, Moldavia and Russia. In 1948, anti-Jewish purges begin with the dismissal of Jewish officers from the Soviet army. An anti-Semitic "anti-cosmopolitan" campaign begins in 1948. The destruction of the remnants of Yiddish culture also begins. On January 13, 1953, several prominent Jewish doctors are arrested and the Doctors' Plot is announced. Stalin dies March 5, 1953.
