Definition:
The red Army enters the Polish border of 1939 on January 4. On April 8, Soviet troops cross the Pruth into Romania. On August 1, the Red Army nears Warsaw and a revolt by the Polish underground army against the Germans ensues. The Soviet troops standing on the right bank of the Vistula river don't support the Warsaw revolt. The Red Army liberates Bucharest on August 31 and encircles Budapest on December 26. Soviet Jews begin to return to the liberated territories. (en-US)
