Definizione

As of January 1, Jewish men and women must adopt the names "Israel" and " Sarah." Germany annexes Bohemia and Moravia on March 14, and allows for the creation of Slovakia as a satellite state; Lithuania cedes Memel to Germany on March 22. With the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact (August 23), Soviet Russia becomes a German ally. Germany invades Poland on September 1, rapidly occupying Danzig and the western portions of Poland. The outbreak of the war prompts a new round of antisemitic legislation. (en-US)
