Hegyeshalom, a town on the Austrian border, was used by the Germans as a transfer point for deportations of Jews from Hungary. The Jews arrived in Hegyeshalom by forced march, mostly from Budapest and its environs. Most were in extremely poor physical condition upon their arrival in Hegyeshalom. (en-US)
