Germany invades on April 6, 1941, and Yugoslavia capitulates on April 17. Germany annexes half of Slovenia. Regions controlled or annexed by Italy (Dalmatia, half of Slovenia, Montenegro) remain havens for Jews. The Axis creates Croatia, which rules over most of Bosnia-Herzegovina; Bulgaria annexes Macedonia and some Serbian districts; Serbia falls under German military administration; Hungary receives Backa, Medjumarje and Prekomurje.
