Definizione

Early in this year a national organization comes into being to assist the persecuted, including Jews. In July, 220 Jews are exchanged for German residents of Palestine. The last deportation of Jews leaves September 3. Operation Market-Garden takes place in September 1944 as Allied forces parachute down into Arnhem, in eastern Holland. While the Allied-held parts are liberated in the fall of 1944, wide-spread starvation ensues in the provinces still completely held by the Germans, North Holland and South Holland, containing the major cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague into the winter of 1945.
