Location: Province in SW Central Poland, in the former Russian part of Poland. In 1918-1939 the province was bordered by the Lublin province to the east and northeast, by the Warsaw province to the north, by the Lódz province to the west and northwest, by the Slask province to the southwest, by the Craców province to the south, and by Lwów province to the southeast. As of 1939 the province comprised the following counties (powiat): Czestochowa, Zawiercie, Bedzin, Olkusz, Wloszczowa, Jedrzejów, Miechów, Pinczów, Stopnica, Kielce, Sandomierz, Opatów, Ilza, Radom, Kozienice.
The capital is Kielce.
History:
Boundaries of pre-WWII province were changed by transfer of territory to Katowice and Krakow provinces. Present day Kielce includes greater part of former Keltsy (Kielce) and Radom governments of Russian Poland. (en-US)
